RI State Lifeguard Certification Testing

THE DIVISION REQUESTS THAT ALL CANDIDATES PRE-REGISTER FOR A TIMESLOT.

WALK-IN REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED, BUT CANDIDATES WILL BE REQUIRED TO WAIT UNTIL AN OPENING IS AVAILABLE AND WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN-UP ON SITE IN OUR RECDESK SYSTEM. WALK-IN APPLICANTS WILL BE ACCEPTED UP TO 1 HOUR PRIOR TO THE LAST TIME SLOT.

How To Register & Prepare For Your Test:

Step One:
All candidates must sign-up as a RecDesk user. If you haven't used our online portal RecDesk before, create your "Community Profile" with a username and password. If you registered for your swim test last year using RecDesk, you already have a community profile, and can just log-in.

Step Two:
Go to the Calendar on top blue banner and scroll to the date of your choice. Click on your preferred time slot (in aqua blue) and click on "Select This Program." Click the orange "Add to Cart" button at the bottom of the screen. Check box and select "Continue to Cart".  For "Fee Type", select "Application - $0.00" (There will be no cost assessed until your test date and upon passing your State Lifeguard Certification test), click "Save". Select "Go To Checkout". Select "I Accept Waiver" and "Continue" to complete the registration process. You will receive an email confirmation after you successfully register. Note: There are six slots per test. If your desired test is full, select another time slot or day.

Step Three:
Complete this Lifeguard Certification Form and bring it with you to your state lifeguard test. If you are under 18, you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. A parent or legal guardian will be required to sign this form and present Photo ID at time of testing. If a parent or legal guardian is not able to accompany a child under 18, this form MUST be filled out, signed and notarized by the parent or legal guardian.

If the endurance swim has been completed prior to your state lifeguard test, you must bring the
Proof of Endurance Swim Form with you to your test.

*If you did not complete the Endurance Swim in advance of your state certification, you will need to be prepared to swim at the test.  Wet suits are allowed.
